Standing at the door of the classroom before my very first lesson, I wondered how I was going to make the point that I was in charge; not them. It sounded like warfare had broken out on the other side of the door. I decided to:

March into the room and slam the door to attract attention.

Shout at the class to sit down as I walk through the door.

Slip into the room quietly to get organised and write some instructions on the whiteboard before starting the lesson.

Stride to the front of the room and call the class to order.
